![](/files/-McGbsBKUS5kIyRfePxW)

## Why have the most common option configurations been selected on when bulk editing?

When you bulk re-edit product options, Variant Wizard will select the most common configurations for both your options and option values. This is done because there's no easy way in the user interface (UI) to show options that have multiple configurations. For example, if one configures half their **Small, Medium,** and **Large** option values as dropdowns, and the other half as buttons, how will this be displayed within the UI without being too complex? Moreover, how will these options map back to products without a tedious user interface?

To mitigate Variant Wizard selecting the most common configurations, try to adapt your workflow to the use the following rules:

1. If your options are styled differently across collections, bulk-edit (and re-edit) each collection separately. For example, if you have a pant and t-shirt collection where the colors differ between these two collections (e.g. your shirts are lipstick red and your pants are rose red) but have the same option value name of **Red**, bulk-edit the pants and t-shirts collections separately. When you re-edit the t-shirts and/or pants collection, the lipstick red and rose red colors will stay intact.
2. If you are further configuring a particular product after it's been bulk edited, be sure **not** to select this product again when bulk-editing. For example, if I add an **On Sale** text above the **Green Front Poncho Cape** option after the options have been bulk-edited, do **not** bulk-edit **Front Poncho Cape** again. Doing so could (and probably will) reset the **On Sale** text.

Let us know at <support-rio@productwiz.io> if you are having any problems with this system. We'll be more than happy to provide guidance with best-practices.

## Creating a variant for Group Products As Swatches

In order to use Group Products as Swatches, a product must have at least one variant. Follow the instructions below to add a single variant to a product.

### Add a single variant to a product

To add a single variant, click **Products** on the left hand side menu and then click on the product. Then, scroll down to the **Options** card and enable the **This product has options, like size and or color**. Finally, add one option name and one option value, followed by **Save**.

![](/files/-McGcX-48RnuOZTfpQNy)

## How do I import my existing variant images?

There are two ways:

* When you open Variant Images for the first time on a product, you'll be prompted to add any existing variant images, as you can see on [example 1](/variant-wizard/faq/variant-images/import#example-1-configuring-a-product-for-the-first-time)
* You can also import your existing variant images at any time by using the multi-select functionality, shown in [example 2](/variant-wizard/faq/variant-images/import#example-2-importing-after-configuring-your-product)

## Example 1: Configuring a product for the first time

As you can see below, simply hit **Continue**, followed by **Yes**.&#x20;

# Bulk Edit

Available on Pro Plan

Use this powerful tool to **manipulate multiple variants at once** and reduce human input repetition on products that have a large amount of variants.

![](/files/-McABQQ57MREXIvEkolb)

## Types of Bulk Edit Operations

With this tool, you can easily:&#x20;

* Copy media (images/videos/models) from one variant to one or more variants ([example 1](/variant-wizard/faq/variant-images/bulk-edit#example-1-copy-variant-images-to-all-green-leopard-sizes))
* Add media (images/videos/models) to one or more variants ([example 2](/variant-wizard/faq/variant-images/bulk-edit#example-2-add-images-to-all-variants))
* Remove media (images/videos/models) that are no longer needed from multiple variants ([example 3](/variant-wizard/faq/variant-images/bulk-edit#example-3-delete-front-poncho-cape-photo-from-all-variants))

## Getting Started

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/3oUzmR85ipE?t=490>" %}
Bulk edit starts at 8:10
{% endembed %}

## Example 1: Copy Variant Images To All Green Leopard Sizes

In this example, we add 3 images to the **Small / Green** Leopard Poncho. Then, we apply these same 3 images to the other sizes of the Green Leopard Poncho.

Since we are overwriting the medium and larges sizes, we selected the operation **Replace**.

{% embed url="<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RuNJER5CssQ>" %}

## Example 2: Add Images To All Variants

In this example, we add a size chart image to the end of each variant's media. For this operation, we select **Append.**

Operation types:

* **Append:** add images at the end of each variant's media
* **Prepend:** add images at the beginning of each variant's media
* **Insert:** specify the numerical position of where the added images will be inserted

{% embed url="<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7JHNPs4WhE>" %}

## Example 3: Delete Front Poncho Cape Photo From All Variants

In this example, we select the operation **Delete,** since we will be removing images from all variants.

{% embed url="<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOz2DfHN_Cg>" %}

## Additional Examples

Don't see a particular use in the examples above? Shoot us an email at <support-rio@productwiz.io> and we'll be happy to get your feedback! :)

# Link Variant Images to Swatches

This feature allows you to automatically change to the corresponding swatch (product options) by clicking on the variant images

## Example

{% embed url="<https://variant-image-wizard.myshopify.com/products/candle-holder-linked-variant-images>" %}

## How to link

First, ensure that you have the **Product Image Gallery** switch toggled to the **on** position as shown in the screenshot below. You can find this switch by navigating to our app's home page and then clicking on the **Preferences** tab.

![](/files/Y18vmuq3IWBVhYpqOaAF)

Then, you can link your variant images to swatches (product options) by choosing between the **On an individual product basis** or the **Globally on all products** methods as discussed below.

### On an individual product basis

This can either be done through **Shopify Admin** or through the **App**.&#x20;

#### Shopify Admin

On the product page, scroll down until you see **Tags** on the right hand-side. Then, simply add **vw-variant-vi-link** as a tag

![](/files/xCPpYGfWoiFB6KXiY1LW)

#### App

Navigate to our app's all products page, and select the product you want to link

![](/files/6foQh0erP5wroayl1jqX)

Click the **More** button (three dots) followed by the **Link variant image to product option (swatch)** menu ite&#x6D;**.**

![](/files/kQyMkHyGD0MBxrDzzRG3)

### Globally on all products

On the app’s home page, simply click on the tab **Preferences**, found at top right corner. Then, on the tab **Product Image Gallery**, enable **Link variant image to product option (swatch)** by ticking the checkbox. Then, hit **Save** on the top right.

![](/files/nyjLEH8szAJufJA900mc)

## How to **assign multiple variant images to each variant while using this feature**

First assign all the images you want to link to the corresponding variants within the variant rows. Once completed, click on the **3 dots** button located at the top right corner of the page and then turn the **Variant Images** toggle to the **off** position, as shown in the screenshot below.

The app will then revert the product to using the standard product image gallery layout (where all images are shown), and clicking each image will change to the correct corresponding product option (swatch).

![](/files/JJSzupbvkpMaNZfp1rOP)

# Re-apply Theme Integration

Navigate to the Variant Wizard's homepage and access the **Preferences** tab. Proceed by clicking **Reinstall** button under the **Reinstall** card. Then, choose the theme to reapply the app's theme integration on, click **Next**, and conclude by clicking on **Reinstall**.

<div align="center"><figure><img src="/files/32uWwnBhaVpRNeWaGRZF" alt="" width="188"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
